Updated Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll shows some shakeups in the top 10, still figuring out the depth

It was yet another intriguing week in FCS football . We are firmly getting into conference play, which means that teams are going to continue to separate themselves. As a part of that separation, some programs are going to continue to rise nationally, and others will fall.

On this week’s updated Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll , the top group stayed relatively the same, but there were some slight shakeups. One thing is certain, there is clearly a top group that is beginning to solidify itself. Once you get past the top 13 or 14 teams or so, the rest of the group is pretty blurred.

The biggest criticism I have received is behind my placement of North Dakota State at the top of the poll. There is some projection there sort of, but the emergence of the passing game behind Cam Miller gives this Bison team a different feel to me. They have had some defensive struggles early on, but history says that should remedy itself.

With a run game that will come around, along with the improvements of Miller, it feels like North Dakota State can be a tremendous team down the stretch. Only time will tell how strong that take, and projection, is.

Here is my updated Top 25 Poll this week.

    1. North Dakota State (4-1)
    2. South Dakota State (3-1)
    3. Montana State (5-0)
    4. South Dakota (3-1)
    5. Villanova (4-1)
    6. Central Arkansas (4-1)
    7. Idaho (3-2)
    8. Montana (4-1)
    9. North Dakota (4-1)
    10. UC Davis (4-1)
    11. Southeast Missouri State (4-1)
    12. William & Mary (4-1)
    13. Mercer (5-0)
    14. Incarnate Word (2-2)
    15. Sacramento State (2-3)
    16. Southern Illinois (2-3)
    17. Tarleton State (4-1)
    18. Illinois State (3-2)
    19. Abilene Christian (3-2)
    20. New Hampshire (3-1)
    21. Rhode Island (3-1)
    22. Lamar (3-2)
    23. Northern lowa (2-2)
