NBA-esque decisions puts Davante Adams further away from the Bills and Steelers

If the Buffalo Bills do somehow acquire Davante Adams and can figure out how to make his contract fit under the cap , it will be a large dose of sorcery. I'll simultaneously be thrilled at the talent that the Bills are adding to the roster while also carrying many reservations about just how it will work having an aging superstar wide receiver that wants to be fed the ball in the " everybody eats " offense.

Quite simply, if the Bills acquire Adams, that moniker goes out the window along with whatever compensation Buffalo ships off to Las Vegas.

Yes, there are reports that the Bills are involved in conversations regarding Adams, but more notably, it seems that Adams has his eyes set on only one team: the Jets.

This type of rhetoric is not something that we typically see in the NFL. Engineering a trade? This is NBA levels of "I'm taking my talents to South Beach" behavior.

We've seen this in basketball for decades, and more-so lately. Star players picking and choosing their destination to put together the team that they want, to play with who they want to play with. Basketball has five players on the court at a time, and a deadly duo can be enough to propel a team to a deep run.

Not football. Not a team sport that has 53-man rosters. Of course Adams wants to go to the Jets to link up with his old buddy Aaron Rodgers. Why wouldn't he? They had eight beautiful years together that saw Adams rack up 622 catches for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns in 108 games, and now Adams is sitting in quarterback purgatory out in the middle of the desert (literally and metaphorically) while residing in the same division as Patrick Mahomes. For so, so many reasons, of course he'd rather play with Rodgers.

This isn't how the NFL world works, though. Not typically. If Adams is intent on forcing his way to the Jets, then other teams that may potentially be interested, like the Bills and the Steelers, will be left out in the cold. It also puts the Raiders in a tough situation, where they won't be able to shop for the best deal, but instead will be roped into one particular dance partner.

Adams is arguably the best wide receiver of his generation. There is absolutely no denying that, and if he somehow winds up in Buffalo, I'll be behind him one hundred percent of the way and will get my popcorn ready for potential fireworks every single week. But if he does force his way to the Jets, I'll hate what it means for the status of NFL player movement. Oh yeah, and I'll hate that he's in the AFC East even more.
