The Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce was recently suspended by the NCAA for some of his actions during his time at Arizona State University.

Pierce received a one-year suspension if he ever became an employee again at a university. Luckily for him, he likely has the rest of this year, and maybe all of next year to prove he deserves to be a head coach in the NFL. And, if that doesn't work out, he will be a coveted position coach for the linebacker room on any team.

Here are some of the statements the NCAA released regarding Pierce's actions while with ASU:

"An eight-year show-cause order for Pierce. Should he become employed by an NCAA member school during that time, he shall be suspended from all athletically related activities for 100% of the first season of his employment... Following their employment at Arizona State, Pierce, and Garnett failed to cooperate when they provided false or misleading information to the NCAA enforcement staff regarding their involvement in violations," the NCAA's report said. "Shortly thereafter, Pierce also failed to cooperate when he did not provide the enforcement staff with the requested copies of his financial records. Each of these violations is Level I... Over the course of nearly one year during the COVID-19 recruiting dead period, Pierce directly or indirectly paid for the roundtrip airfare and/or lodging of at least seven prospects and some of their families as part of his arrangement of prospects' unofficial visits... Pierce knowingly and blatantly disregarded fundamental dead period legislation to orchestrate the majority of violations in this case. Pierce's defiance of and indifference to NCAA rules was, in part, motivated by his observation that he needed to maintain an aggressive recruiting presence [to] compete with what he believed other institutions were doing during the COVID) dead period." - NCAA

Pierce is currently 2-2 as a head coach for the Raiders in 2024, with wins over the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, and losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and Carolina Panthers. He will play the Denver Broncos this week to try and improve to 3-2.
