Jabrill Peppers emphatically addresses Patriots locker room 'mutiny' rumors after team podcast comments

The New England Patriots have lost three games in a row, so it's no surprise that there is some frustration over the results to start the season.

However, there has been a lot of talk over the past day that first-year head coach Jerod Mayo might have already lost the locker room. But captain Jabrill Peppers wasn't having any of that.

"That’s absolute bullshit," he told A to Z Sports exclusively. "You can quote me on that.

"It's just when you lose, people can paint any narrative that they want to paint. But him losing the locker room? No, that's not a thing."

This all comes after a Patriots team reporter spoke about the locker room on a podcast that the team has now edited .

“Right now, they’re teetering on a mutiny in that locker room. I was in that locker room on Sunday, the defense is mad at the defense, the offense is mad at the offense,” Lazar said. “You have young receivers who are throwing tantrums … at what point in time do some of these guys say to themselves ‘why am I out there getting my butt kicked and Drake (Maye) can’t? Why am I going out there with a quarterback that can’t get me the football when we have a Ferrari back in the garage?”

Jerod Mayo also addressed these rumors when speaking with reporters. Here's everything he was asked and how he responded:

A team employee on a team produced show yesterday said he felt the team was “teetering on a mutiny.” That’s a quote. Understanding what that means, have players demonstrated to you that they want a change in leadership and/or openly defied your orders or those of the coaches?

Mayo: “My focus is definitely on the Dolphins, 100%, and the guys in the locker room. So I haven’t heard that. I mean, that’s journalism for you. I’m not sure.”

But it’s from the team, so I wanted to check with another team employee here.

Mayo: “Like I said, I haven’t heard that and try not to pay attention to that stuff. You’ve gotta ask him.”

Does it feel like there’s frustration in the locker room?

“I mean, it’s always frustrating when you’re not winning. The guys put a lot of work in and everyone wants to try to find a solution right now while we’re going through this transition. So people are definitely frustrated and that’s a normal human response. I feel pretty good about the way that we’re going. I used the analogy the morning: It’s almost like flying through the clouds but you have to use the instruments until you get to clear skies. When I took this job, I knew the lumps would come. It’s part of the transition.”

What's it been like playing for Mayo?

After Peppers clearly denied this report, we asked him what it's like playing for the new head coach. And he didn't hold back.

"It's just different perspectives. It's a guy who's been in your seat and now he's the head man. He just has different perspectives on things. He listens to his players, he leans heavily on his captains, and he's willing to make changes," the safety said. "It's just being a motivator, knowing how to get the best out of his guys, knowing what buttons to push, knowing some guys you have to talk a little differently than you can talk to some guys, and I think he has a great understanding of that and what makes his individual guys tick."
