Former Oklahoma Sooners Heisman Trophy winner just did something in the NFL he hasn’t done since he was in college

One of the best former Oklahoma Sooners in the NFL right now, and maybe the biggest fan favorite when it comes to the guys in the league that used to wear crimson and creme, has to be Baler Mayfield, the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are one of the best teams in the NFL this year with Mayfield having rejuvenated and revived his career.

He started with the Cleveland Browns and that worked for a minute. He changed the franchise around, made the playoffs, and then was booted out of town to the Carolina Panthers. From there, he played for the Los Angeles Rams and then ended up with the Buccaneers, where he just signed a long-term deal this offseason.

Mayfield has been one of the better quarterbacks in the league this season. If you're into fantasy football, he's pretty much been the third-best fantasy quarterback all year long. He's been legit, and he was that against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football despite the loss.

He worked the ball all around the field, throwing passes and completing them to six different receivers. He only had 180 passing yards but threw 19/24 with three touchdowns. But, the best thing he did that Sooners fans will be proud of, was something he did for the first time since his college days in the crimson and cream.

One of his three touchdowns went to Sterling Shepard, a former teammate of his at Oklahoma. Shepard caught one ball for four yards, but it was a touchdown.

That was the first time the two connected on a touchdown in 3,232 days when both were at Oklahoma. OU fans likely loved seeing that on primetime on Thursday Night Football, for one of the best players in the NFL.
