Steelers' accidental starter does himself a disservice following punishment from NFL

Pittsburgh Steelers starting RT Broderick Jones hasn't had the best start to his 2024 season.

A bad preseason, followed by his benching ahead of Week 2 and disastrous performance against the Denver Broncos, Jones has been quiet the last few weeks after returning to the starting lineup following Troy Fautanu's season-ending injury.

And quiet is always a good thing for offensive linemen.

But Broderick Jones' latest actions were a little too loud for the NFL:

Broderick Jones Fined For Late Hit Against Colts

Jones was fined a little under $12,000 for the above penalty, a clear late hit in the back to a Colts defender.

Jones is no stranger to unneeded penalties having allocated three within six plays against the Broncos before being benched and replaced by Troy Fautanu.

Either way, the sophomore professional will be Pittsburgh's starting RT for the duration of the season, even if Pittsburgh has largely botched his development process from the jump.

Set to play the game of the year thus far against the Dallas Cowboys, these kind of mental mistakes won't fly when the ball kicks off in Pittsburgh on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET.
