Sherrone Moore's comments on QB situation suggest clear favorite to lead Michigan after loss to Washington

Michigan's quarterback woes finally caught back up with them on Saturday in their loss to Washington. The Wolverines had a chance to make it two victories in a row against the Huskies dating back to the National Championship Game in January, but ultimately came up 10 points short, losing 27-17.

After the game, Sherrone Moore still didn't sound too excited about his quarterback situation, but his comments did make it sound like there might be some clarity moving forward. Alex Orji had opened the game as Michigan's starter once again, but after three straight punts Moore turned to sixth-year veteran quarterback Jack Tuttle.

Tuttle led the Wolverines on three straight scoring drives after coming in at quarterback, but struggled late in the game, losing a fumble and throwing an inception on two of Michigan's last three offensive drives of the game. Would that be good enough to secure the starting job moving forward? Sherrone Moore was asked exactly that in his post-game presser and had this to say:

"I thought [Jack Tuttle] came out and gave us a spark early obviously. Three straight drives--you know--we had a touchdown, field goal, touchdown. So, I think the players fed off of that. He practiced well all week and got him back healthy which was great for us. You know, we'll see [about whether he'll be our starter moving forward]. But, it was positive. I think he gave us a spark so we'll see if he'll be the starter. Looks like he's given us the best chance. Obviously we've got to clean up the turnover at the end, but he definitely had an exciting start."

If you would like to watch Sherrone Moore's full post-game presser you can find the link in Clayton Sayfie's post above. Moore sure made it sound like Tuttle was the best option at quarterback for Michigan moving forward. He provided a "spark" when Michigan needed it most. And even though he ultimately disappointed late with some poor decisions, Tuttle looked far more ready to lead an offense than Davis Warren or Alex Orji.

When pressed again on the quarterback situation, Moore took it one step further with Tuttle saying, "I feel good about the way he played. I feel good about what he did. Right now if we had to play tomorrow I'd say Tuttle would be the starting quarterback."

Now that Michigan has two losses they really can't afford to lose another game all season long if they want to have any hopes of making the inaugural 12-Team College Football Playoff. Hopefully Jack Tuttle can take huge strides quickly, otherwise Michigan is going to be in trouble.

The Wolverines face off against four ranked teams in the next six matchups: Illinois, Oregon, Indiana, and Ohio State. If they fall short just once Michigan fans will need to start counting down the days until Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports hopefully officially commits to fixing the Wolverines QB problems via NIL contributions.

I saw a lot Michigan players slipping on the astroturf, so was wondering if they were using the wrong cleats. It seems to be a no brainer thing to do, but it went on for the full game. Didn't see any Washington players having this problem.
