The Carolina Panthers' excitement after a couple of offensive explosions has come to a screeching halt. They fell to the Chicago Bears in Week 5, 36-10.

The running game was nonexistent after the first quarter. Andy Dalton made some incorrect decisions, getting pressured consistently. Simply put, Chicago dominated them in every phase. Carolina now sits at 1-4 on the season, last in the NFC South.

During the loss to the Bears, Panthers fans got to see more Bryce Young late in the game when the matchup was out of reach. He replaced Andy Dalton at QB and completed four of seven passes for 58 yards.

Head coach Dave Canales explained his choice to put Young in once the game was decided.

Panthers' Canales makes disappointing decision with Bryce Young

Canales said that he made the decision to put Young into the game to give him some live reps. He also noted that Carolina needed to get Andy Dalton out of the game with the injuries along their offensive line .

This is an odd decision. Your offensive line is struggling badly and is beat up, so you chose to make your former first overall quarterback back there to be the sacrificial lamb in a blowout loss?

Not sure about that choice, whatsoever. A rough look for the first-year coach.

That shows a legitimate lack of respect for the outlook of Young's future with the team. The staff was not focused on his health behind a beat-up OL, even as a young QB that they still want folks to believe that they believe in as a potential franchise QB.

This was a statement from Canales that probably needed to stay between the ears, plain and simple.

Canales also announced that Andy Dalton will start for the Panthers in Week 6. He also felt that Young played "fantastic", according to his presser.

Former Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme chimed in on the radio regarding his squad's struggles. He was blatantly honest.

The former starting QB took his fair share of hits and losses in Carolina. That being said, he became a fan favorite for his gritty demeanor and effort while starting for the Panthers.

He's clearly disappointed with how it's all turned out for the franchise in the recent past. They're dysfunctional. no matter the coach or roster.

Canales' decisión regarding Young this weekend may fly under the radar. It won't in the locker room, though.
