Ohio State has a chance to really annoy a Big Ten opponent with a transfer portal move in the future

Ohio State’s running back room is performing just like they thought it would this season with two potential early draft picks.

The only negative about having TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins is that they both will be in the NFL after this season. That will leave the Buckeyes with two sophomores and two incoming freshmen set to be on the roster next year at running back.

On paper, that is an awfully young running back room and Ohio State very well could look to add an upperclassmen to the room. Ironic enough, one fit may be a recent Iowa running back who announced he would be transferring.

LeShon Williams announced he would be transferring after the Buckeyes handed Iowa a 35-7 loss . Williams was the Hawkeyes’ leading rusher in 2023 but has played in just three games and has only 11 carries this season. The senior has played a combined 32 games at Iowa and will have one year of eligibility next year.

The Buckeyes will likely slot James Peoples in as a starter next year barring a big transfer portal splash like they got with Judkins last go around. Still, the depth of a senior running back would be good for such a young room.

Current 2025 running back commits Bo Jackson and Isaiah West could have a role as freshmen next season, but it could be unfair to ask it to be a significant one.

Ohio State has not been shy about the transfer portal. They were aggressive in it last season when it came to the top players in the portal. Williams is one player that I’m watching to see where he lands come December and it would not be a surprise if it is Columbus. While he may look to transfer somewhere to be a starter, being a part of the unit in Columbus could be attractive.

I personally think People’s will be a very good RB if just given the playing time. Smaller than usual but loves to run over people and is very quick. Not sure we want to push the panic button for next year
