The NFL is a brotherhood, but that doesn't mean guys don't hold grudges and one apparent grievance quickly came to light after the New York Jets fired former head coach Robert Saleh on Wednesday.

Running back La'Mical Perine, a former Jets player from 2020-2021, wrote a post on X stating Saleh and the Jets staff never gave him a chance and that he wasn't surprised by the move.

The post has since been deleted . During his time in New York, Perine recorded 263 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 72 carries, good for an average of 3.7 yards per carry. He added 63 receiving yards on 11 receptions and was responsible for 22 total first downs during his two seasons with the Jets.

His best season came in 2020, his first in the NFL and the year before Saleh's arrival. Perine appeared in 10 games and ran for 232-yards and two touchdowns on 64 attempts, good for 3.6 yards per carry. He caught all 11 of the aforementioned passes during his time in New York over the course of his rookie year, as well.

Perine was inactive throughout the vast majority of the 2021 season and appeared in just four games. He recorded 31 rushing yards on eight carries and his snaps decreased from 200 in 2020 to just 24 in 2021. He was released before the 2022 season.

It's not like Perine was on a Pro Bowl pace or anything like that before Saleh showed up and only the people in the Jets building know how things went down. Either way, he's no longer on the team and he's currently on the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad. At least he's supposedly "getting a chance" somewhere else.

But, what's certainly fair to say is Saleh's teams didn't live up to expectations simply because he couldn't figure out the quarterback situation. Zach Wilson turned into one of the worst draft picks of all-time and Aaron Rodgers simply hasn't been the guy the Jets thought they were getting when they traded for him last year.

Now, Wilson's and Rodgers' failings certainly all on Saleh, both guys have their hands in the pot and have stunted the team's growth. Either way, it's a mess all around and it'll be interesting to see how the Jets dig themselves out of this hole - if they even can.
