It’s that time, Texas fans. Kickoff Saturday is 2:30 and… it’s going to be a huge SEC matchup.

The 120th installment of the Red River rivalry brings about yet another top-25 clash in the sold-out Cotton Bowl in the jam-packed State Fair of Texas.

Texas (5-0, 1-0 SEC) enters this one ranked No. 1 for the first time since 1984. The Longhorns are the only remaining unbeaten team left in the SEC. Quinn Ewers should return after missing 2 1/2 games with a strained abdominal injury, and there is not expected a two-quarterback rotation with Arch Manning. This is Ewers' show.

Oklahoma (4-1, 1-1) is ranked 18th and should start a true freshman quarterback for the seventh time in school history. Michael Hawkins Jr. is the most talented dual-threat quarterback the Longhorns have faced yet.

Grab a Fletcher’s corny dog, get your Horns Up — or Horns Down if you prefer OU — and strap in for another entertaining chapter in this century-old rivalry.

“At the end of the day, I mean, I tell myself it’s football,” Texas defensive back Jahdae Barron said. “Yeah, you’ve got to give the fans what they want. This is obviously a rivalry that’s been for decades and things like that. But at the end of the day, the end zone is not gonna change, the length of the fields not gonna change or the width.

“So just go out there and just do your game and play your game, and then ultimately, just leave it up to God. Once we step between those lines, it’s mano a mano.”

Texas is a two-touchdown favorite, but don’t go asking the players about that. “You said gambling?,” UT linebacker David Gbenda said with wide-eyed curiosity. “I’ve never been to Vegas.”

Told that oddsmakers think the Longhorns are good, Gbenda said, “They think we are? Oh, OK then.

“Honestly, we’ve got to make sure we come out and bring our best, because I know they're going to bring out their best.”
