The Tennessee Vols were named on Thursday by On3 as a program to watch for former Indiana Hoosiers wide receiver Donaven McCulley.

McCulley, who is a former four-star quarterback recruit, reportedly decided last week that he's going to redshirt the rest of the 2024 season and enter the transfer portal.

McCulley, who is 6-foot-5/203 lbs, caught 48 passes for 644 yards and six touchdowns in 2023. He had two receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown this season before deciding to redshirt.

The Indianapolis native entered the portal after the 2023 season when Tom Allen was fired as Indiana's head coach, but he eventually returned to the program after Curt Cignetti was hired to lead the Hoosiers.

(It's worth noting that former Vols quarterback Tayven Jackson transferred to Indiana after the 2022 season...Jackson left the UT program on positive terms, so there is a potential connection there.)

For now, this report just signifies that there might some mutual interest between Tennessee and McCulley. Portal decisions, however, can evolve quickly. This is something that Tennessee fans should keep an eye on, but it doesn't mean that anything will be imminent this winter once the portal opens.
