In a week of turmoil, Jets finally get some good news for their offense

The Jets have been doing some addition by subtraction this week by firing head coach Robert Saleh , but now they are getting some addition by, well, addition.

The Jets will likely get back not one, but two big men along their front lines this week as both Morgan Moses and Leki Fotu appear to be on track to play this week.

Moses, who sprained his MCL along with a bone bruise on the Jets September 19 th game against the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football, is set to return to play right tackle for new Jets offensive coordinator , Todd Downing.

The Jets need Moses now more than ever as he is one of the true leaders in the locker room. To have him back on the field brings a steadiness and leadership that the Jets desperately need during this transition.

Take a listen to his comments this week as he is asked about transitioning from Nathaniel Hackett to Todd Downing as play caller. He takes no part of this for granted.

Jets first round rookie Olu Fashanu has been filling in for Moses at the right tackle position and despite some good moments, he hasn’t played particularly well. He has also allowed nine pressures in two games. That rate is more than twice what Moses as produced as he has given up six in three games.

On the other side of the ball, the team gets Leki Fotu on the field for the first time as a New York Jet. Fotu has been on injured reserve since the start of the season with a hamstring injury, should make his debut against the Bills Monday Night.

The Jets run defense has been gashed at times this year and that is partially due to the absence of Fotu in the middle of that defense. Fotu isn’t the greatest pass rusher but is an early down defensive tackle that can clog the middle of the offense. If nothing else, Fotu provides some experience and depth along a thin defensive line.

While on paper, these players returning might seem unimportant, football is won and lost in the trenches and the Jets trenches just got a lot better.
