There are always unfortunately significant injuries every single college football season. For the LSU Tigers, they've already had to endure star defender Harold Perkins' season ending injury. Now it's the offensive side of the ball's turn.

On Thursday night, Brian Kelly revealed on his radio show that emerging redshirt freshman wide receiver Kyle Parker would miss the remainder of the 2024 college football season due to a torn tricep tendon. This injury comes as a shock and huge disappointment to many fans who had seen him ascend firmly within LSU's top six rotation at wide receiver.

Kyle Parker was a highly recruited four star wide receiver who showed promise prior to his freshman season, garnering rave reviews from coaches and fans even then. However, he eventually redshirted his true freshman season in 2023 since there was no way he was breaking through to snaps with two future first round picks still on the team in Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas. However, t his spring and summer Parker had climbed the depth chart , at times working with the first team.

Parker had already broken through this season on a couple occasions seeing significant snaps against both USC and UCLA, including a huge 45-yard score against the Bruins . It was beginning to look like Parker would become a real breakout player and potential future star (particularly beyond this season), but it looks like LSU fans will have to wait at least one more year now.

LSU still has plenty of wide receiver depth with Kyren Lacy, Aaron Anderson, CJ Daniels, and Zavien Thomas all making plenty of plays, but it's sad to see Parker go down for the year when he had begun showing such promise. Hopefully he recovers fully and he gets to rise to stardom for the Tigers in 2025.
