Who doesn't love a good nickname?

It certainly couldn't be Indianapolis Colts legend and current wide receivers coach Reggie Wayne.

With Wayne sharing his unique and flat-out hilarious nickname for Colts WR Alec Pierce.

"That's white chocolate. He's starting to be the Alec I saw at Cincinnati. And that's just getting confidence in himself and getting the quarterbacks that can throw it downfield to get the ball to him. We all know Alec is a deep threat, right? And we got quarterbacks that can do that. And now he is starting to let everybody know that he is capable of playing in this league and being consistent."

    - Colts WR coach Reggie Wayne speaking on Alec Pierce

Wayne has never lost confidence in Pierce. Even when it seemed like fans and the media following the Colts did over the past two years. And after his big game against the Houston Texans in Week 1, Wayne took to X to call out everyone who doubted his WR.

It seems safe to assume Wayne and Pierce have developed a great bond over the past two seasons. Pierce recently spoke about the advice Wayne gave him on staying patient during his struggles over the past two years.

“Yeah, for sure. I mean he always told me, especially these last two years, just to stay patient, wait for the opportunity. He can relate exactly to that. So yeah, he just told me before this year, ‘I think this is going to be a big year for you.’ I think just with kind of the quarterback situation, stuff like that, it was going to play better off to my game.”

During his third NFL season, Pierce seems to be finally hitting his stride. As both Wayne and Pierce mentioned having a QB willing to utilize Pierce's ability as a deep threat is a key factor. He is the Colts' leading receiver on the year in both yards and touchdowns, with 368 yards and three touchdowns. What makes this even more impressive is the fact that Pierce only has the fourth most targets on the team with 17 and the third most catches on the team with 13. But I'd expect both those numbers to rise quickly with the news of veteran Michael Pittman Jr. likely to miss multiple games with a back Injury.
