New Orleans Saints rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler is preparing for his first NFL start in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He talked to the media about a plethora of topics on Friday afternoon. He sounded confident and excited for the opportunity.

Archie Manning reached out to Rattler

When asked about the prolific QB reaching out, Rattler confirmed that Manning did precisely that after the news broke.

"Yep, he reached out a few days ago... Just said he's rooting for me. He's been an awesome resource to have out here..." -- Rattler on Manning

It's cool to see that Manning remains a strong piece to the Saints franchise. He's remained a contributor to Derek Carr during his time as the starter, even as he is a long-time QB in the league.

Another key takeaway from Rattler's presser was his answer to the number one key to playing QB.

"I think you have to be fearless."

There's no lack of confidence in the rookie. That being said, you do not feel a sense of cockiness when he talks either.

Rattler seems to be comfortable in his own skin and knows that he has what it takes to produce at a high level in the pros. He's garnered a lot of respect from the staff and his teammates for those characteristics since being drafted by the Saints.

Saints HC Dennis Allen says that Rattler possesses a "no-flinch mentality" that stands out as a rookie in the NFL.

This week, Rattler will get his first chance to prove it all in a pivotal NFC South matchup. The anticipation has reached a new high for New Orleans this season.
