So many quotes, not enough time.

A lot is said at Gillette Stadium each and every week as the New England Patriots season continues.

It's a new era for the Patriots, with head coach Jerod Mayo leading the way and a whole new look to the offense with Jacoby Brissett in the pocket. Not to mention the continued dominance from the defense.

With all the important quotes throughout the week, A to Z Sports is starting a new weekly story where we will put in key things that the players and coaches say ahead of their matchups.

Next up: Week 6 against the Houston Texans.

    Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo:

“I feel like there’s a renewed sense of energy around the team.”

    __

Jerod Mayo on the offensive line last Sunday:

"I actually thought they did a pretty good job."

    __

QB Jacoby Brissett on losing the starting job:

“It’s tough. I don’t think words can really describe how tough it is.”

    __

Jerod Mayo on the quarterback change:

"There's never a perfect time to make a change."

“I wouldn’t say the plan was expedited... It’s no secret our offense hasn’t been performing the way we thought it would. I wouldn’t say it was expedited. At the end of training camp he was trending up and that never slowed down.”

    __

    Deatrich Wise on Drake Maye:

“In practice, I’ve seen him be resilient.”

    __

Drake Maye on being named the starter:

"I think it's a great opportunity. It's something you dream of."

“It’s an opportunity to go out there and prove people wrong.”

    __

    Kendrick Bourne on Drake Maye:

“I didn’t think he was that fast. I think his 40 is faster than mine... The old me. I got faster.”

“He’s top three (pick) for a reason. There’s something there.”

    __

Offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt on the quarterback change:

“The reality of it is we’re 1-4, and we need something to give us a chance to win Sunday.”

    __

Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett on the mutiny report:

"No. That's just terrible reporting... terrible reporting on somebody that has no idea what they're talking about."

    __

Alex Van Pelt on OT Vederian Lowe:

“I feel strong about them. I think Vederian is playing at a high level. He’s probably our best pass blocker on that edge. Did a really good job. I thought protection was better as the game (against Miami) went on.”

    __

Patriots cornerback Coach Mike Pellegrino on Christian Gonzalez returning from injury:

“I would say it’s because he’s a dog. That’s what it is. He’s not satisfied with being ok. He wants to be great and he’s on that path. He did a great job in his rehab process now he’s just reaping the rewards.”

    __

Head coach Jerod Mayo on the performance of safeties Jaylinn Hawkins, Dell Pettus and Marte Mapu in last Sunday's loss to the Dolphins since Kyle Dugger and Jabrill Peppers were out.

"It was very encouraging. Those guys grew up yesterday. I like the way they played, and hopefully here going forward, they continue to develop at that pace."

    __

Jabrill Peppers' attorney after his arrangement on Monday:

“What I said in the court room, I’ll repeat: We have evidence that completely contradicts the alleged victim’s story, and I expect my client to be fully exonerated.”

    Reporter: “It was video evidence?”

Attorney: “Yes, and other evidence, as well.”
