Oregon Ducks player lives up to pre-game promise to head coach Dan Lanning with unbelievable performance against Ohio State

Oregon Ducks running back Jordan James has been instrumental to the success of this Oregon offense, and Saturday night's massive win over Ohio State was no different. James showed up on a massive stage with yet another impressive game that helped the Ducks march to victory.

Against a Buckeyes defense that hadn't allowed a 100-yard rusher this season and was giving up only 2.8 yards per carry, James racked up 115 rushing yards and 5.0 yards per carry.

According to head coach Dan Lanning , James made a promise before the game that he more than lived up to.

"Jordan, man, he runs like he's pissed off all the time," Lanning said. "We see it every day in practice. You know, before the game started, he came to me and said, 'Coach, I got you.' And I know when he said that, he meant it. He took advantage of those opportunities he got today."

"He'd be the first one to tell you it's about the schematic advantages that [offensive coordinator] coach Stein, the offensive staff created, the blocking that [offensive line] coach [A'Lique] Terry's crew did, the O-line. I'm gonna go back and watch this film. I'm gonna try to find how many times we see 11 guys with their hats on somebody, giving us an opportunity right to be able to create a big run. And Jordan was a beast tonight. I'm really proud of him," Lanning continued.

James more than delivered on his promise to Lanning before the game. This season, he has been the model of consistency, bringing production, character, physicality, and explosive ability to the field each and every game.

The running back is now up to 667 rushing yards in six games, eclipsing 100 rushing yards in four out of six opportunities. He has six rushing touchdowns, getting at least one touchdown in all but one game. James' season-low rushing yardage total was 86 yards against Oregon State, which he reached on only 12 tries as he wasn't needed in the second half. He scored two touchdowns in that game.

James is one of the most underrated running backs in college football. Oregon depends on his contributions to set up the rest of what they do, and he has done it every single week.
