Oklahoma Sooners HC Brent Venables drops a heavy dose of the truth after bad loss to Texas Longhorns

The Oklahoma Sooners have a major issue, as we have said the last few weeks. But, originally it was thought that maybe it was primarily injuries that were holding this offense back, because that is a fair assessment, as no team has really had worse injuries than the Sooners.

And, all of that is a mix of why the offense stinks. But, it starts at the top with the coaching. It starts with offensive coordinator Seth Littrell, as he just has not done a good enough job this year, despite the Sooners being 4-2 on the year.

Could the quarterbacks be better? Yes, but the scheme and play-calling certainly aren't making it easier on them.

And, the Sooners know how bad they have been. In fact, head coach Brent Venables is not afraid to say how bad they are, delivering a heavy dose of the truth to the media while talking about the side of the ball that is not carrying their own weight.

“We couldn’t sustain any of the momentum we had in the first quarter," Brent Venables said after the game. "We, obviously, haven’t been very good all season… We have to do a better job putting guys in a place to be successful.”

Seth Littrell has set this offense back with his play calling and scheme, and we saw that alone against the Texas Longhorns , where the offense could barely get a first down the entire game, outside of their field goal drive and their final drive.

The scheme is terrible, especially the run scheme, where there were too many plays that saw the Sooners working against themselves with the play developing. You cannot have a run play go one direction three yards backward, and then reverse that and think you will get any yardage when the offensive line is at an obvious disadvantage in this game.

What he did after the game surely doesn't help him, either. It's just a big-time mess on that side of the ball right now.

it took until Texas to see this offensive coordinator train wreck? Venables needs to go as well.
