With how early Notre Dame football begins recruiting, things are typically almost wrapped up before the season even begins. With the changes to the recruiting landscape, and a constant need to improve your roster, the Irish staff continues to comb the nation for talented 2025 recruits. That includes a player in their backyard in Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central offensive lineman Cameron Herron, who flipped his commitment from the Iowa Hawkeyes to Notre Dame on Monday.

The 6-3, 275-pound offensive lineman had been committed to Iowa since June, but clearly the Irish continued to pursue him. The program really pushed even harder recently, and made the flip happen during his official visit for the Stanford game this past weekend.

Herron is considered a near consensus three-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. The exception is On3, who has Herron ranked as a four-star player. He is considered the No. 272 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class, as well as the No. 19 interior offensive lineman in the country.

The Indiana native now joins fellow offensive line recruits Will Black, Owen Strebig, and Matty Augustine in the Irish class. Of those three, they are more than likely projected to stick at offensive tackle on the next level. A couple could potentially slide inside at offensive guard if need be. Herron not only couple play guard, but also has the physical profile to play center as well.

Notre Dame has been very selective on the offensive line this cycle, and clearly finding a true fit inside was key here. They cooled on Missouri commit Jack Lange earlier in the process for that very reason. At 6-8, he is a true offensive tackle and not a fit inside. Herron, on the other hand, is.
