The Indianapolis Colts shocked everyone by listing starting quarterback Anthony Richardson as their emergency QB 3 on their inactive list for Week 6 .

The team elected to give Ricahrdeson another week to allow his hip/oblique injury to heal and get him closer to 100% health. This gave veteran Joe Flacco his second consecutive start, and the team picked up a much-needed divisional win over the Tennessee Titans.

The team is now 3-3 on the year and 1-2 in the AFC South. Up next, they are set to host the Miami Dolphins, who will be without Tua Tagovailoa in Week 7. Colts head coach Shane Steichen provided a big update on Richardson's status as the team prepares for the Dolphins.

Anthony Richardson's injury status for Week 7

Steichen told the media that "barring a setback," Richardson should be ready to go for the team's Week 7 matchup with the Dolphins. This is big news for the young quarterback's chances of returning to the field after missing the past two weeks due to his hip injury, which knocked him out of their Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Colts have been able to get solid play out of backup Flacco, which has helped the offense to stay afloat without Richardson and star RB Jonathan Taylor. They have been able to keep up their explosive play ability in the passing game, but the running game has seen a massive dip. Getting Richardson back on the field would be a major assist in that regard, no matter if Taylor is able to return this week.

Whether people want to admit it or not, Richardson's development is the Colts' priority number one this season. They have to figure out whether or not they have found their franchise QB. And the only way they are going to be able to answer that question is by getting him more reps so they have enough film to appropriately evaluate Richardson and his ability to play QB in the NFL.
