In the blink of an eye, the Indianapolis Colts' remaining schedule got drastically more difficult

The NFL trade deadline is still three weeks away, but that didn't stop two blockbuster trades from shaking up the league ahead of Week 7.

Two AFC teams added new offensive weapons via trade with the New York Jets, landing Davante Adams and the Buffalo Bills acquiring Amari Cooper. Both of these are teams the Indianapolis Colts are set to play later this season.

Davante Adams might be new to the Jets, but he is more than acquainted with his new quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. The Green Bay Packers drafted Adams with the 53rd pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He and Rodgers were teammates in Green Bay from 2014 to 2021 before Adams was traded to the Raiders ahead of the 2022 season. Adams appeared in 116 games with the Packers and recorded 669 catches, 8,121 yards, and 73 touchdowns.

During his career, Adams has faced the Colts four times. In those games, he has recorded 33 catches for 399 yards and five touchdowns. That means he averages an impressive 8.25 catches, 99.75 yards, and 1.25 touchdowns a game. He had over 100 yards in three of the four games and went for over 120 yards in two of the four. And has recorded at least one touchdown in each game. So it goes without saying that Adams has had a lot of success against the Colts in his career. Now, he has another chance to add to his totals in Week 11.

Colts vs. Amari Cooper & the Bills Week 10

Amari Cooper is joining the Bills after being traded by the Cleveland Browns. The Bills will be the fourth team Cooper has played for in his career, and it marks the third time he has been traded. He was drafted by the Raiders when they were still in Oakland in 2015.  He was traded to the Dallas Cowboys during the 2018 season and then traded again ahead of the 2022 season to the Browns. During his career, he has appeared in 146 games and recorded 691 receptions, 9,736 yards and 62 touchdowns.

Cooper has played against the Colts three times in his career. In those three games, he's recorded 11 catches for 130 yards and zero touchdowns. So Cooper hasn't had anywhere near the same level of success against the Colts that Adams has. But in those matchups, he also didn't have a QB of Josh Allen's caliber, throwing him the ball. We will have to wait until Week 10 to see how the two click as a duo, but I think it's safe to assume Cooper is going to like playing with Allen drastically more than his recent experience playing with Deshaun Watson.
