Exploring 5 Bears players and why they will or won't be dealt at the NFL trade deadline

The NFL trade deadline is coming up hot with the official date being November 5th, the Tuesday following Week 8.

Teams have already been all over the phones this week with multiple big names already on the move joining new organizations.

Since it's the talk of the league right now, let's break down some of the top names on the Chicago Bears roster who could fetch some interest from other teams over the next two weeks and whether or not they should be traded.

    RB Khalil Herbert - Yes

This one should be simple. Running back Khalil Herbert has become an after-thought in Shane Waldron's offense in Chicago and the Bears should start looking to move him off the roster during the bye week, even if moving him would heavily weaken the depth in the backfield.

Herbert is on the final year of his rookie contract and would be easily affordable for a RB-needy team that would actually use him.

Over the last three games, Herbert has played six offensive snaps, and all six were QB kneels to end the game. Herbert has been the Bears secondary kick returner and has returned one kick for 28 yards this season. However, the team has also used Deandre Carter and Josh Blackwell in that role as well. It's time for the Bears to move on from their former starter and add some future picks.

    RG Nate Davis - No

The Bears formerly starting right guard became a hot topic on Sunday after the Bears listed him as a healthy inactive. It was quite the development for Nate Davis, whom the front office gave a 3-year $30 million contract to last offseason.

Davis' tenure in Chicago has been a major disappointment from Day 1 but I still don't see the Bears moving him, even if someone wanted him, based on head coach Matt Eberflus' comments earlier this week.

"He's been a pro's pro. He's done a really good job of staying engaged, working every week, and again, we're going to need all these players, and they know that," Eberflus said on Monday . "They're going to have to step in there and perform like we saw yesterday with our defensive backfield. So it's important everybody stays engaged, stays on it in terms of the details and preparation. But yesterday we just went with eight and we ended up putting that slot somewhere else."

The only caveat is the fact that the Bears will soon get Ryan Bates back from the injured reserve, who rotated in with Davis before getting hurt. It'll be interesting to see how the stance on Davis changes when the team has better depth options.

WR/RB/KR Velus Jones Jr. - Yes

Another player who fell out of place on the Bears roster and has been a healthy inactive this season is Velus Jones Jr. Ever since his Week 1 blunder on kickoff return , the Bears haven't been able to trust Jones on the field.

According to a scene on HBO's Hard Knocks , the Bears turned down a trade for Jones after having high hopes for him entering the season under the new kickoff rules and as a running back instead of receiver.

That bridge has now been burned and if that same team comes calling back, the Bears should get off of Jones for whatever the other team offers. If they even still want him anymore after his public mistake.

    WR Tyler Scott - No

Tyler Scott's usage and amount of opportunities this season has been surprising and I wouldn't be shocked if a team were to call and inquire about trading for him.

The Bears' second-year wide receiver has been active for five of the Bears six games this season but only 13 total offensive snaps and was a healthy scratch in the team's season opener against the Tennessee Titans.

Scott was supposed to be primed for a big role in Week 2 after Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen were banged up entering the game. Odunze was still able to suit up while Allen missed the game entirely. Scott played just three offensive snaps.

Even though his role has likely been frustrating so far this season, I don't see the Bears moving Scott. He's a valuable backup to have on the roster at the position that made some big plays during training camp and the preseason. He's sticking around.

    QB Tyson Bagent - No

I hate this has to be said, but this is an immediate no. Tyson Bagent really showed out during the preseason for the Bears and proved to be a decent backup as a rookie.

With various teams dealing with QB injuries and issues, Bagent's name is going to get tossed around on social media as a potential trade option.

There's no chance the Bears are moving on from Bagent.
