The Michigan Wolverines offense has been absolutely abysmal this season. It's not a secret. However, that hasn't completely shut down Sherrone Moore's ability to win offensive playmakers on the recruiting trail. On Thursday, Michigan landed some much-needed help at wide receiver in the form of a speedy four star playmaker.

Jaylen Pile, a highly rated wide receiver recruit from Dallas, Texas in the 2026 class committed to Michigan over Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, plus Big Ten rival schools like Oregon, Wisconsin, and more. This is a big win for Sherrone Moore as he hadn't landed a single recruit since before the season began.

Jaylen Pile blew up as a sophomore averaging 27 yards per reception, making him one of the most explosive wide receivers in the entire state of Texas. His track speed and separation ability on a variety of different routes should translate at the highest levels of college football, and Michigan's going to need it.

Yes, the quarterback play has been rough this season, but the wide receivers for Michigan have disappointed all season long too, creating next to zero value after the catch. Semaj Morgan is the only wide receiver for Michigan who has logged more than 27 yards after the catch in total. Tyler Morris and Fredrick Moore were supposed to step up this season, but have yet to do so.

Colston Loveland has been the lone difference maker through the air for the Wolverines, catching 29 passes for 261 yards and two scores up to this point, but the team needs much more than that.

Michigan ranks 132nd in pass yards this season ahead of only Army and Air Force, two teams who have no interest in passing the ball at all. Needless to say, Michigan could use a talented wide receiver like Jaylen Pile right about now.

Yes, the Wolverines will have to wait until 2026 to get him on the field, but at least this is proof that Michigan's offense hasn't completely annihilated any hopes of bringing in offensive recruits. Let's just hope Jack Tuttle improves the offense soon. Otherwise it might be hard to hold on to skill position talents in recruiting at all.
