49ers HC Kyle Shanahan has discouraging update on former Tennessee Vols WR Jauan Jennings

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan offered a discouraging update on former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings on Thursday.

Jennings, who signed an extension with the 49ers earlier this year, is currently dealing with a hip injury, which has caused him to miss the last two days of practice.

On Thursday, Shananan told reporters that Jennings is in "jeopardy" of missing the 49ers' game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

"He's in jeopardy of [missing the game]," said Shanahan during an interview with KNBR. "I'm hoping that he can turn around here and have a good day tomorrow and feel better, but definitely, right now, it's no guarantee."

Jennings is having a solid 2024 season for the 49ers. The former Vol has 25 receptions for 404 yards and three touchdowns through six games this season. That puts him on pace for 1,144 receiving yards this season, which would be a career best for Jennings.

I'm sure Jennings will do everything he can to play on Sunday -- especially since it's rematch of the 49ers' loss in the Super Bowl to the Chiefs -- but it sounds like he'll be a legitimate game-time decision.
