The Minnesota Vikings have made a bevy of roster moves on Saturday afternoon, including the status of tight end T.J. Hockenson.

    • Signed TE Robert Tonyan to the active roster
    • Waived WR Trishton Jackson
    • Elevated DL Jalen Redmond and OLB Bo Richter to the active roster for Sunday's game
    • Downgraded Hockenson and OG Dalton Risner to out.

It's not much of a surprise that Hockenson and Risner won't be playing on Sunday. Head coach Kevin O'Connell made some comments on Hockenson that showed how diligent they were being with his return.

"I don't think so. I think we're just going to let T.J. get some good work in this week and see where he's at and got a lot of football left. So we want to make sure he's done everything from the standpoint of what we've asked him to do, from his rehab, he's in a great spot. I mean, he's moving around great, but he's got to get acclimated back into football a little bit. And we asked him to do a lot in our offense, and we want him to feel like he's working his way towards doing that, because we know there's a lot of football ahead. He's going to be a huge part of it that we have not had with us through these first five games or whatever."

The other moves also send signals. The signing of Tonyan back to the active roster is about preserving his final elevation to the active roster and they can move him and Jackson pretty easily between the active roster and practice squad.

Bringing Redmond to the active roster is likely about stopping the run game and Richter is insurance for Pat Jones II being questionable with a shoulder injury.

The Vikings and Lions kick off at noon on Sunday .
