Neyland Stadium is one of the most intimidating venues in all of college football, and it can unquestionably have a major impact on the game for opposing teams.

That was on display on Saturday night in the Tennessee Vols' 24-17 win over the Alabama Crimson Tide.  The capacity crowd was in a fever pitch throughout the game, and it helped rattle the Alabama offense at different points of the game.

However, at one point in the game, the crowd helped make a difference when Tennessee really needed it.  With the Vols ahead 21-17 in the second half, the deafening crowd helped disrupt the Alabama communications in a key area.

Tennessee linebacker Arion Carter confirmed after the game that the Crimson Tide were having trouble calling out their pass protection assignments late in the game due to the noise.

"Oh yeah, it was rocking, especially those last couple of drives. It was so loud, they couldn't get their pass protection set.  Just being at a high of a crowd like that, screaming and behind your back, it's definitely a great feeling, especially having that confidence to go out there and dominate."

Tennessee's defense clearly responded to the rejuvenated crowd after Tennessee took the lead for good at 21-17 on Chris Brazzell's 16-yard touchdown catch with 5:52 left in the game.  The volume seemed to turn up a tick, and the Vols' defense responded.

Alabama had three drives the rest of the game after that point.  They went 3 plays for -2 yards, 4 plays for 1 yard, and a game-sealing interception by walk on Will Brooks on the first play of their final drive.  Alabama's offense, which found the end zone earlier in the quarter, looked completely disjointed. QB Jalen Milroe couldn't find anyone open and had to avoid pressure repeatedly before ultimately double-clutching and throwing the game-ending pick.

It was another magical night inside Neyland Stadium under Josh Heupel, and it's another big step in the venue becoming one of the biggest nightmares for opponents in all of college football.

For the second straight time, Alabama found that out.
