National media outlet predicts where Tennessee Vols will land in AP Top 25 after win against Alabama

The Tennessee Vols took down the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday night in Knoxville to move to 6-1 on the season.

Tennessee entered the weekend as the No. 11 team in the nation in the AP Top 25 poll.

Vols fans, however, probably shouldn't expect Tennessee to make a big jump in the new top 25.

247Sports has the Vols moving up just one spot to No. 10 in their AP Top 25 poll prediction .

On3, meanwhile, doesn't have the Vols moving up at all. They have Tennessee staying at No. 11 despite their win against a top 10 opponent.

From On3 : After being held scoreless for the third-consecutive first half (something that hasn’t happened since 1963), Tennessee’s offense awoke in the third quarter to rally the Vols to a 24-17 win over arch-rival Alabama. Nico Iamaleava was dreadful for much of the game (two first half interceptions, multiple overthrows), but he hit a couple big sideline shots including the go-ahead touchdown to Chris Brazzell with just under six minutes left in the fourth quarter. Once again, tailback Dylan Sampson put the Vols’ sputtering offense on his back, rushing for 100 yards and two scores on 18 carries after halftime.

There's a bit of a logjam in the top 10 with the way this season is playing out so far. Essentially, the entire top 10/15 isn't separated by much.

So the rankings don't really matter much at this point in the season. There's still over a month of football left to play. Some of the debates between these teams will be worked out over the next month.

Still, you'd expect Tennessee to move up more than one spot after beating the team (Alabama) that beat the team (Georgia) that just beat the No. 1 team (Texas) in the nation.

Hoping that the Vols can figure out thier lackluster offensive performance in time for the playoffs, assuming their continued success winning some remaining games.
