Brian Daboll wastes no time revealing Giants QB plan after sitting Daniel Jones in Week 7

The New York Giants failed to reach the end zone on Sunday's 28-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in a game that got so underwhelming that head coach Brian Daboll sat Daniel Jones in the second half in favor of backup quarterback Drew Lock, who delivered an uninspiring performance of 3-of-8 for six passing yards.

Naturally, Daboll's decision to sit Jones led to many questions from fans and media members: Were the Giants benching their starting quarterback or was it more of a "game over" kind of decision to take care of Jones?

Daboll left no doubt postgame claiming Jones would continue to be the Giants' starting quarterback minutes after the end whistle.

"I made a change (...) just to create a spark," Daboll told reporters. "Daniel will be the starting quarterback going forward."

The decision should be unsurprising for Giants fans. Even if Jones hasn't played up to the expectations of his deal, New York doesn't have much to do at the position as of now. A potential benching could take place deeper into the season as a season-ending injury could translate to guaranteed money in 2025 , which is territory the Giants would likely want to avoid as they keep their cards open at the position.

Next time the Giants take the field, it'll be under primetime lights, as they'll play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football for a Week 8 showdown the Giants badly need to win. At 2-5, time is running out for Daboll's team and a spark is needed, not by changing QBs in the fourth quarter but by playing actual winning football.

John Mara strikes out AGAIN. How many GM’s and Head Coaches must he hire to get it right? Forget about Barkley, it wasn’t about his talent, if was about his injuries. So far, Schoen has lost that gamble. As much as Jones exhibits great character, that doesn’t win games. These Giants, like the Giants of the 70’s SUCK. Shoulda, woulda, coulda, doesn’t cut it. When was the last time the Giants had an elite quarterback? Not good, elite? Y. A. Tittle, Simms, gutsy, Eli, rose to the occasion in both Super Bowls, but elite, no. Looks like another SHITE season, AGAIN.

Their plan should be the 1st pick.
