Steelers Rookie UDFA credits his two interceptions to a tell from Jets QB Aaron Rodgers

Life as a UDFA in the NFL is never easy, but certainly not for a rookie.

That much has been true for Pittsburgh Steelers CB Beanie Bishop, who prior to Sunday night against the New York Jets, was fighting to keep his head above water.

Well, he may have finally found his footing in the league:

Not once but twice for Beanie Bishop

"Yeah, you know A-Rod, [Jets QB Aaron Rodgers] whenever he sees the middle of the field open, he likes to throw the ball in there," Bishop said when asked if he anticipated the first interception against Rodgers and the Jets. "And I can't remember if it was last week or a couple weeks ago, he threw the ball right at buddy's helmet, kind of gave him a back shoulder pass. So, you know, just being able to see that stuff on film, and just be able to react and know that it's coming. That's just how I kind of played it."

To make an NFL roster as an undrafted free agent, you have to have some sort of overpowering quality. One that makes you stand out and earn a spot in a league of ultimate parody.

For Bishop, that trait or quality seems to be preparation, as he finds himself around the ball more often than not.

"Got a lot of respect for that guy [Rodgers]," added Bishop. "And just to be able to get not one but two of them [interceptions] off of him is crazy. Guys were giving me hell about not running fast, but I asked them had they ever seen Le'Veon Bell run the ball, his patience, you know? And coaches, they got on me earlier this week. They were like, man, don't cut back in there, in there with all the offensive lineman. I'm like, why not those guys don't work on tackling."

For Bishop, it could be a sign that the dam has broken. After being routinely picked on the last time the Steelers were in primetime, two weeks ago against the Dallas Cowboys, things might finally be slowing down as the prep meets the play.
