The Kansas City Chiefs did not avoid the injury bug during the 27-20 Week 8 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Chiefs third-year cornerback Nazeeh Johnson left the game in the second quarter due to a head injury. He was placed in the NFL's concussion protocol and was eventually ruled out of the game due to a concussion. During the Raiders' last-gasp onside kick, Chiefs TE Jody Fortson suffered what appeared to be a lower-body injury. He was helped off the field by the training staff and couldn't put any weight on his right leg.

"A couple of things on the injury front, Nazeeh Johnson has a concussion," Reid began. "Then, Jody Fortson hurt his right knee. We'll do some work on that to see what that is. Other than that, we're pretty good."

Just before halftime there was some concern for Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. He was tackled from behind and got up hobbling ahead of the break. According to Reid, Mahomes had his ankle rolled up on a bit during the play. He doesn't expect it to impact him as he finished the game without any issues.

"Pat (Mahomes) got his ankle rolled up on a little bit, but he was fine as it went on," Reid said.

Mahomes spoke to the media after the game and did not indicate that the injury would limit him in any way. The team provided no updates on LBs Nick Bolton and Drue Tranquill, who both left the game late with injuries. Bolton only missed four plays before he was able to re-enter the game for the PAT block unit.

If Johnson has to miss time, the Chiefs' cornerback depth will become increasingly thin. Johnson was already filling in for Jaylen Watson, who broke his ankle and is currently on injured reserve . Joshua Williams and Christian Roland-Wallace saw increased repetitions in Johnson's absence.

Fortson was spotted on crutches in the locker room after the game. If Fortson's injury keeps him out for an extended period, the Chiefs could look to bring up Peyton Hendershot, who they acquired in a trade with the Cowboys at the 53-man roster cut deadline. He's currently on the team's practice squad.
