New rescue UTV is equipped with the latest technology to assist the Morro Bay Harbor Department in emergency response situations

    – The Friends of the Morro Bay Harbor Department announced the arrival and operational status of a community-funded rescue utility terrain vehicle (UTV). The new UTV was acquired through donations aimed at enhancing beach, bay, and ocean safety.

“This is an incredible tool for our lifeguards to use throughout the summer and for the harbor patrol in the winters and off-season,” said Harbor Patrol Supervisor Becka Kelly. “It has great mobility through crowds, driftwood, and the creek and is amazingly fuel efficient. We are very appreciative of the generous donations to the Friends of the Harbor Department.”

The Friends of the Morro Bay Harbor Department launched a fundraising campaign to raise funds for a state-of-the-art rescue UTV. The campaign received significant support from the community, leading to the acquisition of the new UTV, which will enhance the department’s lifesaving capabilities.

“The community’s support has been overwhelming,” Bill Luffee, president of Friends of the Morro Bay Harbor Department, said, “This new UTV will make a significant difference in our ability to keep Morro Bay safe. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped spread the word.”

The new rescue UTV is equipped with the latest technology to assist the Morro Bay Harbor Department in emergency response situations. Its features include improved agility on sandy terrains and vital lifesaving equipment, enabling the harbor department to respond more effectively to emergencies and provide a safer environment for all beachgoers.
