    – The Templeton Community Services District (CSD) is seeking residents interested in serving on its board of directors. The district, which provides water, sewer, fire and emergency services, solid waste management, parks and recreation, and limited drainage and street lighting for approximately 8,500 residents, is looking to fill a vacancy on its five-member board.

Board members serve staggered four-year terms, meeting twice a month on the first and third Tuesday at 7 p.m. They also serve on committees and may represent the district on regional agencies or commissions. Board members earn $150 per day for attending meetings or training, up to a maximum of $600 per month.

Candidates do not need prior expertise or experience with the district’s services but must be able to dedicate time to understand district issues, review materials before meetings, and collaborate with other board members, district staff, and the community.

Currently, during the nomination period for the November 2024 election, only two candidates, incumbents Navid Fardanesh and Debra Logan, have submitted papers for two of the three open seats. As a result, there will be no election in November. The third seat will be filled through an appointment by the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors, as allowed by the California Election Code.

Residents interested in being considered for the appointment should complete the application available at this link by Sept. 23. They are also encouraged to attend the Board meeting on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at the District Board Room, 206 5th Street, Templeton. Remote participation is available via Zoom or by calling 1-669-900-6833, using Meeting ID 891 4634 1322 and Passcode 509582.

Applications can be mailed to P.O. Box 780, Templeton, CA 93465, dropped off at the District Office, 420 Crocker Street, or emailed to the Board Clerk at boardclerk@templetoncsd.org.

For more information, contact General Manager Jeff Briltz at jbriltz@templetoncsd.org or (805) 434-4900, or visit www.templetoncsd.org.
