Lacking evidence, Abbott recklessly blames the criminal justice system | Letters

Gov. Abbott posted on X, "They try to jail him. They try to kill him," suggesting that the same individuals in our criminal justice system, the investigators, grand jury members, officers and prosecutors who are prosecuting former President Trump, were responsible for the assassination attempt. If he has evidence, he should bring that forward immediately. And if not, when reasonable leaders are making every effort to dial back the political rhetoric of violence, he has baselessly pointed the finger at people that the former president has called his political enemies as somehow complicit in the assassination attempt.

I hope (Abbott) will follow the guidance of better leaders than him and seek a moment of calm reflection, because no doubt there are some out there who will take his words literally.
