WATCH: Baby hippo attempts to crush papaya fruit

CINCINNATI, Ohio (KMID/KPEJ) – Fritz, the youngest at the Cincinnati Zoo, was seen doing his best to crunch up a whole papaya, as shown on footage filmed on Tuesday.

The Zoo said on X that the young hippo couldn’t “quite crush it like his mom Bibi and Dad Tucker yet.”

Fritz was seen trying to bust open the fruit in his jaws in the video shared by the Zoo on Wednesday, July 10.

The zoo said that hippos’ bite force is one of the world’s strongest…greater even than that of lions or polar bears.

Fritz will celebrate his second birthday on August 3, according to the Zoo.
