ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- Two members of Odessa Fire Rescue headed to California Tuesday morning, where they teamed up with more than 100 firefighters across Texas, including crews from San Angelo and Travis County, to help battle ongoing wildfires.

Lieutenant Elbis Nicholas and fire fighter Clayton King, of OFR, stepped up to help after Governor Greg Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management and the Texas A&M Forest Service to deploy resources to assist California fire fighters with battling the blaze.

As of Monday, the Park Fire had scorched more than 400,000 acres, an area greater than the city of Los Angeles. The blaze spanned more than 562 square miles of inland Northern California.
