ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- Jesus House, a local nonprofit organization that works to aid people who struggle with food insecurity, celebrated its 22nd year of serving and impacting the community through the work of its dedicated volunteers and staff.

Jesus House, now serving the community for 22 years, works as a local nonprofit that provides meals, a food pantry, produce, and transitional programs that all work towards one mission in mind.

The mission? To fulfill Matthew 25:38-40, by tangibly improving the quality of life for the homeless and less fortunate, while empowering them for their future and advocating for their well-being- according to the Jesus House website .

“It’s amazing to be able to be the hands and feet of Jesus and to help our neighbors and those around us,” said Melody Elliott, a volunteer at Jesus House who has been dedicating her time for two and a half years.

Jamie Gill, former volunteer, and current Jesus House Property Manager added that the organization has changed lives and continues to every day. “Anybody that comes through here, we have watched lives transform, we have watched lives change- between volunteers, guests, everybody. It’s just life-changing,” Gill said.

In light of Jesus House’s 22nd anniversary, the local nonprofit also announced that it will be adding renovations to help continue its work and announced its upcoming construction. “We’re getting some bathroom remodeling done, trying to make it more accommodating for our guests,” Gill said.

Jesus House stated that the renovations will begin soon, which will result in postponed produce markets and pantry appointments for August, however, will continue to serve its Monday-Thursday lunches outside for those to take to-go, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Jesus House stated that food services are for ANYONE in need of assistance with meals. “We give an invitation for anybody to come to eat with us,” Gill said.

For more updates on when Jesus House will be ready for appointments again or general information, visit the Jesus House website or Facebook page .
