POLICE: Big Spring couple drags German Sheppard behind vehicle

BIG SPRING, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- A Big Spring couple was arrested Monday after investigators said they were caught dragging a dog from their vehicle.

According to the Big Spring Police Department, around 10:50 a.m. On August 26, officers and animal control were called to Crossroads Housing Development, located in the 200 block of NE 7 ^th Street after two witnesses called 911 to report animal cruelty. These witnesses said they saw a man driving a Ford F-150 while a female passenger was holding a leash and dragging an adult German Sheppard behind the vehicle. The witnesses said they honked at the vehicle, which stopped; the couple allegedly said they were taking  the dog “around the corner”, but witnesses offered to provide help for the dog and the couple left the pup at the scene and drove away.

Big Spring PD officers found the suspects in the 100 block of NE 6 ^th Street and arrested them a short time later. Both 64-year-old Alvin Williams and 67-year-old Marilyn Williams have been charged with Cruelty to an Animal/Torture, a third-degree felony.

Animal Control officers took the dog to an area veterinarian for treatment from injuries sustained from being dragged behind the vehicle.
