Narcotics search warrant leads to arrest of Midland man

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- A Midland man was arrested Wednesday after investigators conducted a narcotics search warrant. Rodney Sanchez Lopez, who was allegedly caught with drugs, has been charged with Manufacturing and Delivery of a Penalty Group 1 Controlled Substance, a second-degree felony.

According to arrest records, on Wednesday, September 18, a narcotics search warrant was conducted at West County Road 117 in Midland at the RV of 51-year-old Rodney Sanchez Lopez.

Police reported that during the search of Lopez’s RV, approximately 8.88 grams of cocaine and 22.68 grams of methamphetamine were found inside a bedroom closet, as well as a bag containing 8.15 grams of marijuana, multiple scales, Ziploc baggies, and two pistols. Additionally, investigators said they found fentanyl in their search; a dangerous drug that often leads to serious complications, even death.

Lopez was arrested and booked into Midland County Detention Center where he remains as of Friday, September 19th with a $50,000 bond for each charge.

Sheriff David Criner said of the bust, “The Midland County Sheriff’s Office remain(s) committed to ensuring the safety of our community by arresting and prosecuting those who poison our citizens with illegal narcotics.”
