DAWSON COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – A Midlander was killed in a crash after running into a semi-truck at the intersection of State Highway 137 and FM 828 early Wednesday morning.

According to a DPS report, preliminary investigation revealed that at about 6:45 am on Wednesday, September 18, a 2009 Kenworth truck with trailer was traveling south on State Highway 137 and a 2017 Ford F-350 was traveling east on FM 828. The driver of the Ford F-350, who was later identified as 34-year-old Matilde Antonio Herrera-Gutierrez, of Midland, disregarded the stop sign on FM 828, hitting the Kenworth truck.

Herrera-Gutierrez was pronounced dead on the scene by Justice of the Peace Larry Duyck. The driver of the Kenworth truck was transported in serious condition to University Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock. This crash remains under investigation.
