Athlete of the Week: Legacy sophomore J.P. Reyes

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Midland Legacy sophomore quarterback J.P. Reyes is ABC Big 2’s week four Athlete of the Week for his record-breaking performance in the Rebels’ 62-42 win over Abilene High.

Reyes, who was making his first career varsity start, broke the school record for passing yards in a single game with 422 yards. Reyes also threw for 6 touchdowns in his debut.

Reyes stepped in for senior quarterback Jaden Rogers, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear in week three against Lake Travis.

The win was the Rebels’ first this season, and they are now 1-3 on the year ahead of a showdown against the No. 1 ranked team in Louisiana, Ruston High.
