AUSTIN (KXAN) — In a petition filed Wednesday, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton challenged the Texas State Fair firearms ban.

The goal of the petition was to “prevent the City of Dallas from assisting the State Fair of Texas in enforcing a firearms ban that would unlawfully prohibit Texans who are licensed to carry from exercising their rights,” according to the AG’s Office.

Previously, a Texas appeals court denied Paxton’s request to temporarily block the State Fair of Texas’ policy.

Paxton said he immediately challenged the decision in the Texas Supreme Court.

“The City of Dallas and the State Fair of Texas cannot nullify state law by banning firearms. And a government entity cannot contract away our rights by offloading this policy to a private entity. Texans who are licensed to carry have a right to defend themselves, and I will fight every step of the way to protect it,” Paxton said.

For all those that don’t want to abide by the No firearm rule it’s simple don’t go but for us that like the fact that this will be a much more family friendly environment. What moron needs to have a firearm everywhere that they go? A coward is what comes to mind for those that think that they are tough be tough without a firearm and if you feel compelled to fight do it and there is a much higher probability that both people will be able to go home and get over their felling being hurt as opposed to idiots shooting at random especially since in this state there are no laws to having a firearm other not being a felon that’s it. Many restaurants, schools and and all bars exclude firearms so what’s the big freaking deal that insecure people feel a need to carry a firearm in public? It’s silly and extremely dangerous that’s the big freaking deal.
