WATCH: Police save drowning person from waterway

OAKLAND, California (KMID/KPEJ) – Police jumped into water “without hesitation” and saved a person from drowning in Lake Merritt Channel in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 29, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Bodycam footage showed the moment of the rescue next to the channel on East 8th Street. “Thanks to their quick response, the individual was rescued and is recovering in the hospital,” Oakland Police said.
