ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Wednesday’s ECUD meeting was brought to a halt after a board member walked out mid-meeting.

The Board was meeting to discuss cancelling all meetings for the remainder of the year when a fight broke out between board member Troy Walker and former ECUD president Tommy Irvin. Both individuals accused each other of being a criminal.

Without all members present, the board was unable to vote on the proposal and the meeting came to an end. After the meeting, we spoke with residents about how the situation was handled and some of the ongoing issues West Odessa residents have had with ECUD.

“The meeting didn’t go exactly like we thought it was going to go, and there were things that should have been handled differently. And if it had been handled by a citizen, it would have been handled differently. But it was a past employee and they let him continue to rant and run one of the board members down and that is not what you do at a meeting like this,” said Shirley Jo Kelley, a resident of West Odessa.

Tommy Irvin stepped down from his role in 2023 after District Attorney Dusty Gallivan called for him to resign following revelations that he had a prior felony conviction.

Mr. Walker, you should have stayed in your seat. Don't let the enemy run you off. Stand your ground and move along.
