Crisp Crust Bakery, local Venezuelan and French bakery opens doors in Midland

MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- Crisp Crust Bakery, a locally owned Venezuelan and French bakery built on dreams, hard work, and passion for the art of baking, has opened its doors in Midland.

Crisp Crust Bakery, located at 4612 Billingsley Boulevard in Midland, opened its doors to the community on Saturday, October 5th, and offers a wide variety of delicacies including crispy croissants, sweet bread, guava bread, French bread, Venezuelan ham bread, and special drinks and coffee.

Karen Reyes, the founder of Crisp Crust Bakery said that opening a bakery has been a dream of hers for a long time. Reyes shared that after studying pastry with a “world-renowned person” named Alejandro Guerra, who specializes in laminated French pastries…followed her dream all the way to the United States.

“When we came to the United States nine years ago, we realized that it’s a country of opportunity, where you can decide what path you want to take,” Reyes said. “I did an advice, a training, a specialization with him, and I decided to make my real dream come true here in Midland…It took me two years to design, to create, to give physicality to my dream, and I finally achieved it.”

Now, Reyes’s dream is to expand her business and to keep sharing her love for the art of baked creations.

“I had the opportunity to come to this city that I love so much. I love it because I want to do this. I want a place where people can enjoy what I love to do… it’s my passion…” Reyes said. “Every piece that you consume has that passion that I like so much.”

Reyes said that the bakery will continue to have two new flavors each week, as she tests out new recipes and flavors to share with people. “I am working on it. Every week. Every flavor. I do some tests…How is the consistency? How does it taste? It is like a study every week.” Reyes said. “There will be two new flavors.”

Reyes said that so far, she has received a lot of positive support from the community, so much so that she wishes to accompany her baked goods with more options of delicious coffee and wants to continue expanding her business. “It’s been incredible, really. I’m grateful to everyone,” Reyes said.

Crisp Crust Bakery (4612 Billingsley Boulevard, Midland TX) is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 7 PM and, Sunday from 2:30 PM to 7 PM.
