KITSAP COUNTY, Washington (KMID/KPEJ) – A Washington State woman was forced to flee her property after 50 to 100 raccoons appeared and were acting aggressively, according to Kitsap County Sheriff’s spokesperson Kevin McCarty.

Deputies responded to the woman’s 9-1-1 call last week, when she told deputies that she started feeding a family of raccoons a decade ago. In recent weeks, however, the number showing up went from a handful to around 100.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife determined that no laws were broken. Officials said the woman was referred to wildlife control operators who can capture and remove the animals.
