CALIFORNIA, USA — The California State Fair starts Friday in Sacramento at Cal Expo. People can enter the fair through three main gates including the main gate on Exposition Boulevard and Heritage Way, the green gate just west of the Main Gate and the blue gate on Exposition Boulevard and Challenge Way.
Driver accused of driving under influence of drugs in crash that killed Vacaville officer
VACAVILLE, Calif. — An officer was hit and killed while working Thursday, the Vacaville Police Department confirmed. Officer Matthew Bowen, 32, was "initiating a traffic stop" near Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive around 10:30 a.m. when he was hit by a car from behind. Bowen was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Sweltering temperatures expected for first two days of the California State Fair
CALIFORNIA, USA — The California State Fair kicks off Friday and will confront a well-known challenge, the weather. Friday's forecast temperatures will be very hot with temperatures near 110 degrees during the hottest part of the afternoon between 4-6 p.m. Sacramento could see the temperature approach triple-digits near noon which is just a few hours after the opening and 100-degree heat will last until 8 p.m. Then temperatures move into the 90s before the fair closes for the day.
