United plane departing Vancouver makes emergency landing in Sacramento on the way to San Francisco
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A United Airlines plane heading from Vancouver to San Francisco made an emergency landing at the Sacramento International Airport Wednesday. The plane was diverted to Sacramento due to a burning odor in the cabin, according to United Airlines. The flight landed safely in Sacramento and all passengers deplaned at the gate.

Tortoise rescued from Maria Fire
CALAVERAS COUNTY, Calif. — A tortoise was found Tuesday as fire crews battled the Maria Fire in Calaveras County. According to Cal Fire, Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit Fire Prevention Specialist Jaime Williams found a tortoise along Highway 49 near the New Melones Bridge. Cal Fire said the tortoise was very hungry and ate two apples, a bunch of spinach, half a pound of strawberries and some carrots.
Park Fire surpasses 120,000 acres in Butte, Tehama counties
BUTTE COUNTY, Calif — The Park Fire exploded overnight northeast of Chico, prompting evacuations in both Butte and Tehama counties Thursday. Cal Fire said the fire is at 120,312 acres and 3% contained as of 6 p.m. The fire started just before 3 p.m. Wednesday near Upper Park Road in Upper Bidwell Park, east of Chico and is burning to the north of the park. Chico isn't currently being threatened by the fire.

Man shot in chest in Sacramento County, officials investigating
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — A man was shot in the chest in Sacramento County Wednesday night, according to officials. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says the man was shot in the chest at a hotel on 4300 block of Watt Avenue around 9:40 p.m. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Two Cal Fire contractors killed in Humboldt County plane crash
KNEELAND, Calif. — Two people with ties to the Sacramento region were killed in a Humboldt County plane crash Tuesday. Cal Fire Aviation confirmed a mechanic and a pilot were the ones on board. They were contractors who work with Cal Fire and were employed by a company called Amentum. ABC10 was told they were going out to fix a Cal Fire helicopter at the time.
