LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — For the first time in 34 years, Lancaster City voters will not see a familiar name on the ballot for state representative.

Mike Sturla won the April primary but decided Monday to withdraw his name from consideration in November.

Sturla is a 17-term incumbent Democrat who told abc27 news he decided it’s time to step aside and spend more time with his grandchildren. Sturla said there are no health issues and no political intrigue but after ushering in a new public school funding formula the time was right to call it quits.
