(WHTM)—The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced a recall of baby formula sold in CVS stores in twelve states, including Pennsylvania.

According to the FDA , Perrigo Company PLC is issuing a voluntary recall at the retailer and warehouse level of 16,500 cans of Store Brand Premium Infant Formula with Iron Milk-Based Powder due to excessive Vitamin D levels.

The FDA says no incidents of adverse events due to the extreme Vitamin D levels have been reported, and this was determined through routine testing.

The recalled product was shipped to CVS locations in the following states: TX, FL, CA, SC, VA, IN, TN, NJ, MI, PA, RI, and MO, per the FDA.

The FDA says although short-term consumption of the formula is unlikely to cause health issues, a small subset of physiologically vulnerable infants (e.g., impaired renal function) have demonstrated the potential that consumption of the recalled product could result in health complications.

The FDA encourages parents and caregivers who may have purchased the product to look for the lot codes below with “use by” dates, which can be found on the bottom of the package, and should contact their healthcare provider if they have any concerns.
